The Mom Behind the Guide
Hello! My name is Satoko (Sam for short).
I am the founder of Cowii English Library, a website dedicated to providing general English education resources. I also founded Cowii Books, our online shop on Yahoo Shopping where we sell English picture books imported from the United States and the United Kingdom.
My journey began in a small town in Wakayama Prefecture. At 18, I moved to Kyoto to study English and obtained my junior high school English teaching license. My passion for language education led me to Vancouver, Canada, where I earned a TESOL diploma. After completing my education, I worked as a civil servant handling insurance and pensions in Wakayama and Osaka before launching my current business.
Now I live in Tokyo with my kind husband, our two children, and our dog. Beyond my work with children’s books, I’m passionate about showcasing Japan’s hidden treasures. While Tokyo and Kyoto are well-known, Japan offers truly breathtaking landscapes throughout the country that many visitors miss. I’m excited to share these beautiful places with visitors from abroad through my website.
